Russian skiers win "bronze" in men`s team sprint
For the first time in history of Winter Olympic Games competitions in team ski sprint are held in Torino. Both gold medals in this new Olympic discipline were conquered by Swedish combined team.
Norwegian, Russian, German, Italian, Polish, Swedish, Czech, Slovakian, Finnish and Kazakhstan sportsmen struggled for medals. Swedes Thobias Fredriksson and Bjorn Lind became the Olympic champions. Norwegian sportsmen Jens Arne Svartedal and Tor Arne Hetland took the second place.
Russian team was represented by sprinters Ivan Alypov and Vasily Rochev. They stayed on second place for a long time and even lead the race. Rochev attempted to sprint at finish straight but was only third. In final protocol Russians were 2.6 seconds behind the Swedes.
